SCORING
The scoring system for padel is identical to that of tennis, with matches divided into games and sets. Each match is organised around three sets, each with tie-breaks. A couple needs four points (more for eventual advantage points in the case of deuce) to win a game; six games are needed to win a set; two sets are needed to win a match. In the case of a set of six games each, the customary 7 point tie break is played until one pair reaches an advantage of two points.
For the Premier Padel circuit, some players in a recent tournament established to play the advantage system but without the so-called “golden point” introduced at an international level in 2020 for ties at a deuce.
The pairs are called to serve one game each, with each partner serving in turn. The player serving in the first game of a set will also serve in the fifth and eventual ninth game and will also have first serve in the case of a tie break. Players change sides after every two games played.
