In the world of racquet sports, padel tennis and pickleball are both growing in popularity.
Padel Tennis Ball
Padel Tennis, often referred to simply as “Padel”, combines elements of tennis and squash to create a dynamic and engaging sport. The padel movement originated in Mexico in the late 1960s and has grown in popularity ever since.
Stadium and equipment
One of the distinguishing features of padel tennis is its courts. The court is enclosed by a glass wall and metal fencing structure and is generally smaller than a traditional tennis court, measuring 20 meters long and 10 meters wide. Playing surface surfaces are generally made of artificial grass, which provides consistent bounce and traction.
Players use a solid racket similar to that of a tennis ball, which has round holes instead of string. Smaller court sizes and sturdy rackets shorten matches and increase the pace of play, making paddle tennis accessible to players of all ages and skill levels.
Gameplay
In a 10m*20m court, the game takes the form of doubles, and the serve is an underhand serve. The ball needs to bounce on the server’s side before passing over the net. The ball can also be played outside the wall, and its trajectory is unpredictable at all times.
Pickle Ball
Pickleball, on the other hand, is a relatively new sport that originated in the United States in the 1960s. Often described as a cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis, pickleball has exploded in popularity in recent years, especially among seniors and recreational athletes.
Stadium and equipment
Pickleball is typically played on a court similar in size to a badminton court, 20 feet wide and 44 feet long. The court is divided into left and right teeing areas and has a 7-foot no-tackle zone near the net to prevent players from approaching the net to volley. The buffer area of a tennis court can be adjusted according to the venue.
Players use solid rackets and perforated plastic balls made of wood or composite materials. The ease of use also attracts the favor of many players.
